She is one of the best known faces on television, having been part of the cast of Coronation Street for over two years.
But Catherine Tyldesley chose to shun the Inside Soaps Awards held at London's Ministry of Sound on Monday, where many of the cast were in attendance.
Instead she opted for a low-key evening with her mother Janet, 55, to watch Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Opera House Theatre in Manchester.
The 30-year-old star looked cosy but stylish for the fun night out, wearing black skinny trousers teamed with a black jumper and a black jacket.
She wore her long blonde hair loose and added pointed-toe heels and a floppy black felt hat to add extra interest to her look.
The star tweeted that after a full day of filming Coronation Street, some family time was all she wanted to relax.
She wrote on Twitter: ‘After an brilliant full day on set, a lovely evening with my family was just whats needed! :-)’
Catherine missed out on seeing her co-stars on the soap pick up several awards, while Coronation Street lost out overall with Emmerdale winning Best Soap.
Emmerdale also took gongs for Outstanding Achievement, Best Storyline and Best Bad Boy.
Meanwhile Coronation Street’s David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper, won Best Actor and Natalie Gumede, who plays Kirsty Soames, won Best B*tch.
Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, won Funniest Male, while Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, won Sexiest Female.
